Bitcoin and ether fell on 7 October 2026 as oil and the dollar rose

CoinDesk reported bitcoin under $84,000 in the Asian morning as oil climbed. C2100’s later CoinGecko cache, at 11:35 UTC, showed bitcoin at $83,664 and ether at $2,575. A falling price is also when fake loss-recovery chats appear.

KEY FINDING

CoinDesk and C2100’s later CoinGecko cache both show bitcoin and ether lower on 7 October 2026. Ignore recovery pitches that ask for a seed phrase or a fee sent to a personal wallet.

At 11:35 UTC on 7 October 2026, C2100’s CoinGecko cache showed bitcoin at $83,664 (−3.0% over 24 hours), ether at $2,575 (−5.2%), Solana at $117 (−2.5%), BNB at $767 (−2.2%), XRP at $1.45 (−4.3%) and dogecoin at $0.0891 (−6.8%). These are reference prices from one public feed. They are not a buy or sell signal.

Earlier, CoinDesk reported that bitcoin was just above $84,200 in Wednesday’s Asian morning, about 1.5% lower, after trading near $86,600 on Tuesday and falling to about $83,840. On CoinDesk’s figures, ether was about $2,610, down 3.5%, XRP about $1.46, and dogecoin about 9 cents, down 5%. The same report said Brent crude was about $101.50 a barrel, the dollar was stronger against other major currencies, and the 10-year U.S. Treasury yield was 5.31%. CoinDesk linked the oil move to reported Iranian attacks on tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. C2100 has not independently verified that incident.

CoinDesk also reported that FxPro had described a sustained break below $83,000 as opening a path toward $80,000, and that minutes from the Federal Reserve’s September meeting were due later on Wednesday. That is one firm’s market view and a scheduling note. It is not a C2100 forecast.

A public price drop does not make a private “loss recovery”, “compensation airdrop”, or “deposit to catch the rebound” offer safer. Before sending crypto, check three things: nobody asks for your seed phrase or a screenshot of it; a fee is not sent to a personal wallet; and the offer is not available only inside a private chat you cannot reopen. If any check fails, stop.

A warning sign is not proof that a named platform is fraudulent. Keep the chat record, compare the price with a public feed such as CoinGecko, and read the terms before you move money or invite someone else.

Method note

The 11:35 UTC prices come from CoinGecko’s public simple-price feed, cached by C2100 at 2026-10-07T11:35:01Z. The Asian-morning prices, the oil price, the Treasury yield, and the FxPro comment are taken from CoinDesk’s 7 October 2026 article and are attributed to that report. The checklist is editorial. It is not a finding about a named company, and it is not financial advice.
